Students arrive in home room by 8:15 a.m., with the day ending at 2:55 p.m. There are seven classes in the day, and they are on a fixed schedule. Students get a 35 minute lunch break with students eating at 10:59 a.m., and the second shift eating at 11:46 a.m. Some lunch shifts vary according to the classes.The day begins with a prayer, the pledge to the flag and announcements. The Angelus is said before the first lunch, and the day ends with a prayer and additional announcements.
Yes, all students are required to wear uniforms and with Mass and Winter uniform, a school shoe is required.
Extracurricular activities are not required, but students are encouraged to participate. Goretti offers: Student Council, Drama, Choir, Yearbook, Band, National Honor Society, Respect Life Club, National Art Honors Club, French Honors Society, Newspaper, International Club, Speech and Debate Club, It's AcademicTeam, Technology Club and Book Club. For Athletics we offer: Varsity Club, Boys & Girls Soccer & Basketball, Co-ed Golf, Tennis & Swimming, and Girls Volleyball, Softball & Cheerleading and Boys Baseball.
Tuition for 2008-09 is $9,500. Tuition payment plans are available. In addition, there is a cash raffle fee of $350. The raffle tickets may be sold or purchased by the family. Other expenses include uniforms and books.

Goretti offers two modern foreign languages: Spanish & French. Both languages have College Prep and Honors courses. Spanish also offers Advanced Placement courses for Juniors and Seniors. Latin 1 AND 2 are offered as a classical language.
Advanced Placement Courses are offered for: Spanish, English Lit/Comp., Calculus AB & BC, Chemistry, US History, and Government & Politics U.S.
Twenty-seven credits are required to graduate from Goretti.

We The People Program, It's Academic, Music in conjunction with Cumberland Valley School of Music, Art & Drama, Athletic Programs with 85% of the students participating, Thanksgiving Food Drive, Christmas project for needy families in the community, Right to Life March in Washington, DC., Community Service Program, Mission Trip, Crop Walk, Science Bowls, Bowlathon for St. Jude's Research Hospital, International Club trips to European countries, & overnight retreats.

Over the past five years 98% of St. Maria Goretti High School graduates have entered post secondary institutions while the other 2% have entered the military.
The Class of 2007 averaged 566 on the Critical Reading, 565 on Math and 550 on Writing under the new SAT testing. The total average score was 1681. The averages for State of Maryland: 1,498; United States: 1,511; Frederick County, MD Public Schools: 1548.
We pride ourselves on these two items. The average class size is 12 and the student/teacher ratio is 8:1.
The class of 2008 (51 students) earned over 2.8 million dollars in scholarships.
Bus service is available from the Greencastle, Waynesboro and Tuscarora School Districts in Pennsylvania and from Frederick, Maryland. Also a morning bus from Chambersburg. Coming in Fall 2008, bus service from the Martinsburg/Shepherdstown area.
The application to enroll is available along with the form needed for a physical to play a sport. You will also find a form for medicine use during the school day that must be filled out and returned before medicine can be given at school. This form is very important as no student may carry or take medicine without proper paperwork. All medicines must be given through the office. Newly added, there is a form for donations. This form can be downloaded and printed for your convience.
