| The varsity club was formed in the fall of 1998 to foster spirit and provide an opportunity for service in the school and community. Membership is open to any student who has earned a varsity letter in athletics during the previous school year and is a member of a varsity team during the current school year.
Service activities that the club supports include: CROP Walk to fight world hunger; adopting families at Christmas; Thanksgiving food drive; preparing and serving a meal at the Cold Weather Shelter for the homeless; and helping with swimming lessons at Marshall Street School.
Activities that promote school spirit and activities for the students at St. Maria Goretti include, the Back to School Dance, Homecoming decorations and activities, powder-puff football game for the girls and macho volleyball for the boys, pep assemblies, Spirit Week activities and showing support at the various sporting events throughout the year. The club is also in charge of advertising sporting events through signs, announcements, etc.
Officers for the club are: co-presidents, one male and one female so all sports are represented, Vice president, secretary and treasurer. The club meets during lunch so that practice time for sports is not missed.
