| "It is incumbent on those who exercise authority to strengthen the values that inspire the confidence of members of the group and encourage them to put themselves at the service of others."
Catechism of the Catholic Church
St. Maria Goretti’s philosophy states, "Through the integration of worship, academics, extracurricular activities and community service, students are prepared to assume the role of responsible leaders." It is from Christ’s own example that we learn that those in leadership positions must be willing to serve others.
St. Maria Goretti takes seriously our commitment to educate students to be responsible citizens and active participants in the faith. To this end, each student is required to perform 25 hours of community service for each year they attend the school.
Students have obtained service hours at a variety of different service sites including, but not limited to: on-campus service work, summer camps, altar serving or other volunteer services for church, community centers, humane societies, retirement homes, and after-school tutoring. The Campus Ministry office takes an active role in helping students find service sites that are appropriate and convenient for them.
The following links will provide the policies of St. Maria Goretti’s service program, as well as a copy of the service documentation form that can be downloaded and filled out by the students.
