What's New
FAREWELL MR. HEEFNER
As much as we hoped the day would never come, Guidance Director Mr. Jay Heefner has officially retired ... and this time he means it! When Mr. Heefner agreed to help SMGHS by coming out of retirement to 'fill in' for the remainder of the 2000-01 school year, he had no idea he would be finishing 8 additional school years at SMGHS. How fortunate those graduating classes were to have the incredible knowledge, care, compassion, and concern for their future well-being that Mr. Heefner shared so willingly. He will be missed, perhaps most poignantly by the void where he always stood every morning to greet each student as they arrived at SMGHS. Mr. Heefner, thank you from the bottom of our hearts, and the depths of the halls at SMGHS. We wish you peace, comfort, and an unending supply of great books to read!

SUMMER SPORTS WORKOUTS
Keep your touch on the ball over the summer. Boys & Girls Soccer, Girls Volleyball, and Boys & Girls Basketball will all be working out during the next few months. Stay in 'game shape,' meet your teammates and have a great time. Following are the schedules and coaches' information:

BECOME A HOST FAMILY!
SMGHS has developed a vibrant international student program, which offers families a great opportunity to open their hearts and home to host a student for a semester, or a full school year. Learn about another culture first hand, and make a friend for life! Call the Admissions Office for more information.

GOLF FOR A CAUSE
Rain can't stop Cokey's Golf Tournament! The new date has been set for July 10, with lunch at 11:00 a.m. followed by a 12:00 tee time. The tournament will be held at Beaver Creek Country Club, and the cost is $70 per golfer. Don't miss this great opportunity to tee it up for a good cause. Contact Cokey Robertson at 301.824.6044 for more information and to register.
