Students at St. Maria Goretti High School have the opportunity to participate in Athletics year-round. Parents are needed in many volunteer capacities to support the Athletics program, including, but not limited to concessions, ticket sales, scoring, fundraising and office support. Every year, parents assist the school in raising money for the Annual Fund, which provides crucial revenue for such things as tuition assistance, technology and academic and curriculum programs. The annual golf tournament to benefit the St. Maria Goretti's Interscholastic Sports Program is held each October at the Fountainhead Country Club. Parents are needed to recruit players and sponsors and organize event logistics. This event is a great way for new parents to jump right in and meet fellow parents at the beginning of the year. Two parents from each grade are needed to serve as the liaison between the school and the other members of that grade. Primary responsibilities include serving as the contact point between the administration and the parents for grade-specific events and activities. The Mid-Atlantic Invitational Tournment occurs each year in November. Volunteers are needed assist with sponsorships solicitations, ad solicitations, set-up and clean-up, concessions, gate and Goretti merchandise sales. During the school day, there are many school offices that need assistance with mailings, special events and other student and alumni activities. Volunteers can either sign up for a scheduled time each week, or to be called when extra help is needed. For more information call the Development & Alumni Office.
Volunteers for this committee help organize, prepare, staff, and serve refreshments at certain school events. This would include new parent orientation coffee, open houses, the new families picnic, and meet the teacher's night. During Catholic School's Week, there are Student and Teacher Appreciation Days and in the Spring the Social Celebrating Goretti. For more information call the Development and Alumni Office ext. 139.
A program to seek and arrange for student enrichment publications, events and activities. Parents work closely with department chairs to integrate student enrichment and curriculum.
Volunteers for this committee will support school clubs and activities such as the yearbook committee, foreign language clubs, varsity club, prom, and other school dances, etc., on an as- needed basis. The Town Representatives are primarily the link between St. Maria Goretti High School and the parents living in each town. We need at least one family from each town to call other Goretti families in their area to notify them about meetings and events being held at the school, as well as special announcements. This group of volunteers work to keep our school landscaping needs met. The group meets one or two weekends per quarter to clean, weed, plant and mulch the flowerbeds on the school grounds. For more information contact Marie McEwen by phone or by e-mail at mmmcewen@goretti.org. Ext. 137.
