Formerly the Language Club, St. Maria Goretti's new International Club works to celebrate and to promote the understanding of diverse cultures, languages, and heritages in our school, the local community, and beyond. We support Goretti's language programs, plan activities for Foreign Language Week in March, and take one field trip each semester. Past field trips have included the Holocaust Museum, Cirque du Soleil, German speakers at the Schmankerl Stube restaurant, and more.
Any student may join the International Club at any time. Meetings are held every other Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. in room 205, or as needed. Officers are elected within the first month of the school year, and any student may run for an office, even if he or she had never been in the Club before. Officers are required to attend all meetings; a student becomes an official member of the Club when he or she has attended six meetings per year. Members receive certificates of membership at the year's end; officers receive certificates and pins.
