The Goretti Thespian Troupe is the honor society for theatre and drama, part of the Educational Theatre Association and the International Thespian Society. The troupe provides additional activities for students interested in theatre and drama and plans activities such as field trips to plays and workshops and study of techniques and writing in relation to theatre. Members take leadership roles in the school productions and help raise the funds to produce our school plays. Drama Club members are invited to participate and attend activities. Some recent activities include a workshop by the Rude Mechanicals from Shepherd University, the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire, and bus trips to New York City to see Hairspray!, Phantom, and Wicked!
Membership is determined by a point system from the Educational Theatre Association. A student can earn points working in different aspects of theatre approved by the advisor of the Drama Club, Mrs. Pratt, and Thespian Troupe, Mrs. Amrhein, and can be inducted in to the Troupe at the end of the sophomore year. Members will be on the national role, receive Dramatics magazine, and may wear the blue and gold cords at graduation. Active participation in Troupe activities is required to maintain membership. Elected officers plan activities, manage fundraising for the Troupe, and assist the Director of the school plays wherever needed.
The New York trips have been so successful that they have become a regular activity, open to anyone in the Goretti family-alumni, parents, siblings, etc...
